Further Artwork Released for Pandora – The World of Avatar

A Bridge to Another Land

With Pandora - the World of Avatar coming close to the opening date of Summer 2017, new details have been announced. At Disney's D23 Expo, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek gave an update. The image below was shared as a construction milestone was reached. The image shows the bridge that will connect Pandora to the Discovery Island hub of the park (just by Tiffins restaurant).

As announced on Disney Parks Blog -

"According to the storyline developed by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lightstorm Entertainment, this bridge was built during a time when a destructive company called the RDA came to Pandora. Now that they’re long gone, nature is breaking down evidence of their presence. This bridge will soon serve as an entry into the base camp of Alpha Centauri Expeditions, the eco-tour group that is preparing Pandora for future explorers and adventure seekers."

New Retail and Dining Locations

Below are two images that were released showing new retail and dining locations in Pandora - the World of Avatar. The first image shows Satu’li Canteen which will be the main restaurant in the themed land. The second shows Windtraders where guests can find Na’vi cultural items, toys, science kits, and more. The image shown at the very top of the page shows Pongu Pongu which will be a special drink location which will feature a unique design.

Two New Attractions

Pandora - the World of Avatar will feature two new attractions once open to guests. The first will be Avatar Flight of Passage, offering the thrilling experience of riding a Banshee over the world of Pandora. The second will be a family friendly boat ride called Na’vi River Journey. The ride will send guests down a sacred river hidden within a bioluminescent rainforest. The journey will end with an encounter with a Na’vi Shaman, a figure who has a deep connection to the life force of Pandora. At the D23 event, Disney Imagineers shared the brief video shown below. This shows what we think is an animatronic of the reclusive Shaman of Songs, a revered member of the Na’vi people of Pandora. You can clearly see how Disney's animatronic technology has developed to a highly impressive standard.
