Weekly Focus: Springtime in the Sunshine – Mardi Gras

Florida’s Biggest Party!

Celebrate the New Orleans way at Universal Orlando Resort's Mardi Gras festival which runs each year in February and March. Designed to be a family friendly celebration, everyone can join in the fun. The festivities are included with general park admission with a parade each night during the festival. Some events are on select nights though so if there is a particular concert or event that you want to attend make sure that you check the specific dates!

Mardi Gras Parade!

Each night during the festival, the Mardi Grad Parade takes to the streets. The parade includes street performers, stilt walkers, colourful dancers and phenomenal floats, making quite the spectacle! As well as performers the parade also streams confetti and hundreds of strands of beads are thrown to guests. The parade takes place in the early evening and even includes a special viewing area for children.

Cajun Cuisine

A new themed area is set up for Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando - French Quarter Courtyard. This space is a dedicated celebration of New Orleans food and atmosphere. Throughout the festival various authentic Louisiana jazz, blues and zydeco musical performers take to the stage. To accompany this, food offerings such as spicy jambalaya, shrimp gumbo, red beans and rice and beignets are available to purchase.

Captivating Concerts

Each Mardi Gras festival is peppered with larger than life concerts. These take place on select nights during the celebration and are extremely popular. Big names such as UB40, Olivia Newton-John, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Kelly Clarkson, Jason Derulo and Ne-Yo have all graced the Mardi Gras stage. Be sure to check the schedule if you are visiting during the Spring just in case there are any concerts that you would like to attend. These nights do get very very busy so we would recommend arriving early. This also allows you extra time to enjoy the rides and festival before the concert starts!
